Mixed Feelings

Today was a pretty good day for the most part, I did all my hw for the day [for once].
Art, just working on sketches. Get to listen to iPods in the class so you can focus more and keep quiet..good idea by my art teacher. Used my old iPod shuffle, you know the clip on ones?
I had some classics in there..

Ginuwine - Differences
Common - The Light
Cartel - Say Anything Else

just a few to start with. I still listen to them now, but it was nice to know that my music taste didn't suck THAT much back then in 8th/9th grade.

Math class, did nothing..
AP Lit, went over tests, did horrible.. 28/45, but she curved it to 37 cause everyone did so bad. So I actually did pretty good in this case. Good stuff for failing.

Spanish, Senorita Landeza was talking about how a freshman in her class came into her class early one day and told her she was sad. When Senorita Landeza asked how come, she told the teacher that "The college I really want to go to..im worried that even if I do get all A's this year and do a bunch of clubs, there might be a chance its all for nothing cause its not gonna guarantee I got in." This makes a lot of sense.

The stereotype is that people with all A's or star atheletes will automatically be given a slot into the top universities. I know y'all who follow College Sports on ESPN know what schools I'm talking about.. Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Syracuse, Villanova, Florida, Texas University, Oregon University, ect ect..it can go on forever.

Just having good grades doesn't cut it anymore. Thats why students now- take my advice. Although I'm only a junior, I'm taking it as serious as if I were a senior getting ready to leave.
Do as many extra curriculars as you can, but as a balancing act. Be competitive with your classes, take another year of a foreign language, get another elective in..anything to give you an edge.

Colleges that are more higher end will expect more of you, expecting you to be able to handle all the workloads and time constraints they give you. Its a fact of life that not everything is gonna be easy, and you're gonna be forced to work with people you don't like sometimes, it happens. Another tip: Be social. Being a closed-in nerd with all AP classes and SAT Scores that are perfect won't necessarily mean you can handle it alone in college. Ask for help, make friends, these are all things that will help you learn how to work with people.

This is what can result from your efforts. Through a lot of emailing and internships, I received an email from UC Davis, interested in what I had to offer them.

I received also similar letters from University of Oregon, San Diego State, SF Art Institute, and several private institutions [Faith Based.].

While I was enjoying this while it happened, I had to wake up and realize that they can still deny my enrollment should they see I stop improving, or start doing worse. So, that means I gotta push even harder. In a race, you start putting in everything you have and MORE when you see the finish line, rather than slow down. If you were to slow down cause you were nearing the finish line, people will start passing you up, and you might not succeed then.

Ms.Landeza has a very good point and I was glad she brought this up. It kept me thinking all day.

Lunch, more college talk..lmao, me and a few friends were arguing who the best schools in the Pac-10 and Big East were. coughvillanovauclacough

AP US History, just regular lecture. I'm studying for the test today as I speak.

Psychology, finished watching a movie called Memento. VERY trippy. Anyone who has seen Shutter Island and enjoyed it, this is up there. The director was an indie director, until this came out. It got so popular that he became a big time director for last summer's blockbuster: The Dark Knight.

As far as school goes, that was all that happened.
When I got home, tried out the fit test for Insanity.

...It was pretty hard. For only an 8 minute workout, it got my muscles hurting pretty badly.
The warmup on its own was enough to get my heartbeat up to 100bpm.
Each workout was only 1 minute long, but high reps and power, no rest break.
Hopefully P90X had trained me enough to get through all 60 days of this..

Latest pickup.
Before I go, everyone should try using Pandora Radio.
You type in an artist or song you really like, and only plays songs really similarly to it.
Its a great way to find new music, and stay focused cause you don't waste your time changing the songs you don't like to something better like I do.

The Return.

Its been a long 2 months, and 2010 has been crazy so far.
From the moment 2010 entered, it was filled with hectic work, stress, drama, and emotional troubles; not just for me, but for a lot of friends and family around me.
With that being said, you guys should understand why I haven't been posting [lol].

I'm back though, and I'm glad that I am.
I missed blogging haha..

January Basically:
-New Years
-School
-Finishing P90X Phase II

February Basically:
-No Valentine
-School
-Obtaining a copy of Insanity

I'll actually be starting Insanity next Monday [March 1], so I can end on May 1 as well.

I've been getting more serious about my pictures as well,
so if you guys aren't busy, take some time to look at my pictures at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffiz

Theres a lot of stuff in there, and I'm just trying to get some view counts,
a few comments would be nice also. [/endadvertisement]

Not a major post, but just letting everyone know that I'm getting back into the
whole blogging scene.

...I hate tumblr. It stops people from being creative on their own,
cause they just take other people's words and pictures to describe themselves,
since they're too lazy to do it themselves anymore..

[/endrant].

Remember guys, if you're ever feeling down, never forget...

Christmas Celebration

Today's Christmas festivities were pretty exciting from beginning to end.
I can say that I didn't want to receive any presents this year, because I got my parents and brother gifts, but I'm still kind of happy inside that I got a chance to open gifts.

As soon as I woke up, I was extremely busy.
I was stressed out from the beginning because Buddy told me she couldn't deliver my camera
to me. That was just one factor adding to my stress, not to mention that I still had to cook and wrap more presents. The guests were expected to arrive at around 5, and I slept in cause I was wrapping even MORE presents at like 3-4am. Boy, my family sure is spoiled this year.. LOL

I'm dead break now, but its worth it to see the look on their faces when they saw the stuff I got them.. I texted Janet saying that I needed to get a ride to Cupertino right away, but she said she'd be home at 7 which was way too late for me. If you guys were wondering why I haven't been posting as frequently as I used to, its also because I like having visuals to my entries, which make things more bearable and interesting for those who actually sit and read this stuff, haha.

In an act of desperation, I asked my dad if I can get a ride there, and luckily he was finished with enough cooking to drive me. My dad isn't usually the type to talk when driving[maybe cause he's focusing or idk] but he talked a lot to me today in the car, which was good. Sucks to know that some people have the hardest time talking to their parents rather than everyone else..

Got lost inside the apartments, went to like 4 different gyms/pool areas, until at the last second buddy finally calls me, and we exchange presents.. my gift for my camera, lols.
Came home, ate doughnut holes, downloaded Dungeon Fighter Online[IGN: Eidao/Eigen] for a few hours, came out when people were starting to arrive..
Ate roast beef, mashed potatos, macaroni salad, and corn, doesn't seem like much but that steak is THICK. Probably ate like 4lbs of beef on my own, lol..

Didn't open a lot of gifts this year because I wanted to give since I'm old enough to actually start getting stuff for people now, ya dig? I didn't want to wait for my parents to open them later, so I made them open my gifts now. I got my dad a limited edition Eddie Bauer tee and cashmere muffler, my mom a set of cashmere scarves and tons of bath & body work lotion/soaps, and my brother cotton gloves with some DS games inside of the mittens[Drawn To Life: Next Chapter, Mario & Luigi].

It feels better giving than receiving to be honest, cause that look on their face is something you can't beat, knowing that its something that they'll look great in/use a lot..

Hahaha, I'm too soft.

Heres some -overexposed- recap pics, taken by my uncle for the night:

Ja Ja Mel holding it down with that "Silent Night" acapella

Newest addition to the family..great, another little cousin lol..
Baby's first Christmas

Dad getting his new Clarks from me and my mom,
my brother holding it

Its ya boy thinkin, "Dang I should've bought a diffuser"
That flash is BRIGHT, mayne!

My mom opening one of her gifts, Victoria's Secret
I guess...gross lol

On a side note, I'm really glad someone decided to greet me merry christmas,
I didn't want anything today but for them to contact me again.

...Thanks a lot. You made christmas this year really what its meant to be: Something
thats to be shared with people you care about, whether its friends family and everything in between, its no good if you don't spend it with someone who means something to you.

Even if you weren't physically here, I still felt like you were by my side, even for just a little bit.
Praise God for being such a gracious giver to us all. He gave us all someone to spend togethertime with!

Don't forget about the true meaning of christmas guys, its not about the material things..
Its about together time, time you need to cherish cause you never know when the next time you'll be able to have something like that is [well, other than next christmas lol]. Who cares if theres not as many presents under the tree? That just means you have to put more thought into the present, and more time to be close..

More recap later on today, when I go to my dad's side of the family to celebrate..

be chill, happy holidays

1 Month Hiatus + Recaps

YEE New pickups, dollar store ftw; I dont need those supreme beanies

New Nike ID's, you guys help me choose which colorway I should order first.
I'm leaning towards the 1st one to begin with! 1, 3, 2? or 1, 2, 3?

I'm back, like BACK BACK. I made promises that I would hop back on blogspot, but with being serious about sports and school, I hardly had time for this [even though I had time for ISS and eating like crazy..]. Now that its the Christmas/Holiday Break, I have time now to actually recap whats going on in my life again. Me being as forgetful as I am, this will be a good reminder for me.

TO SUMMARIZE THE PAST MONTH:
-Evangelism at SF [very uplifting]
-Got plantar fasciitis on my right foot[arch inflammed, got brace + missed 1 week of school]
-Got a new bed[sofa bed, folds out now! got more space in my room yee]
-Had a roller coaster GPA [3.6 => 2.9 => 4.1, by grading periods]
-Made new friends[yay]
-Gained 9 lbs [152, FAIL]
-Lost flat tummy [Gotta be honest, it shows in my clothes now =( ]
-Due to muscle tear/inflammation, had to stop P90X [Day 62, time to restart to day 1 FFFFFFFFFFfffff]
-Fell for someone, then got crushed. [Stupid mistakes I made.]
-Went Christmas shopping by myself for the first time [shopping for girls is really hard alone]
-Went to Valley Fair with the Sayabanha sisters for our teachers [Stephanie spent 50 alone on Mr.Hyde, our psychology teacher; she would]
-Made my 2010 Resolutions [hopefully i get em done]

This past month has been really hectic, filled with drama and fun, pain and healing, fat and skinny!

To help visually interpret my past month, heres some recap pics..

Practicing for street evangelism at SF, I didn't
wear my jacket at this time, I was dumb cold

@Thanksgiving dinner at my cousin's house,
My brother can't manual focus for crap

Black Friday shopping with mom @ gilroy..
Felt like NYC inside that place

Christmas Caroling, "Speak to Me"
very good song, y'all should listen to hear it
when I don't sing it :)
Start of the end..the bleeding was the first sign
that something was wrong with my foot, FAIL
On a plus note, my calves look muscular

Shopping for all my ladiessss is hard word by myself
Good thing the workers were really helpful,
shoutout to the employees at Old Navy, Gap, F21, and Papaya for help

Sago after a hard day of shopping makes me realize
I'm still pinoy at heart

This shows I can still be happy after taking 800mg Ibuprofen and have a 12lb brace around my leg

This goes to show that I'm not done with blogging, just been really busy; Hopefully this one big blog post is better than 6/7 tiny little ones. Later on today is our Christmas celebration at church, will recap that as best as I can without my camera [currently on loan to buddy Michelle Estolas], hopefully my cell phone pics are decent enough haha..

Funions are love, and they showed me that.

If only I can give someone that Funion kinda love.

Wednesday 11/4/09

Old pic, but whatevs.

People have been saying they like my blog, but they'd like to see more utilization of my "writing skills", whatever that means. Another friend said they'd like my friends to start being "deep" again like in my stuff over the summer. Oh boy, summer, how far away does that seem yet it was such a short time from now. Winters right around the corner, which means another year gone by. 2009, you have been one hell of a workout. Remember when everyone was saying "2007 was the best year ever"?

This decade is comprised of more than half my life, from 2000 till upcoming 2010, it's seen me transform from a little kid to a big kid...to a bigger kid.
Age is irrelevant to how mature a person is, and I believe that to the fullest cause I still have a lot more growing up to do despite having a lot more liberties[street legal, i can get a job, ect ect].

People who really know me understand that I'm a really soft person when I'm not around a lot of people, at that point I'm just a class clown. People who I've spoken to a lot realize that I have of things to say, a lot on my mind, the burdening thoughts in my heart and head that progressively build up over the day. Oh, how I wish there was just some place I could just let all these thoughts inside of me come out! Then, I found blogspot.

Blogspot, you da best.

fuck the haters. I know who I can rely on, and they can help me take care of those who go against me.

Happy..

1st of November, guys.
I can say this is my favorite month, the best of the fall and winter in one month.
Time of snuggling and warmth and togetherness, ahaha no homo.

WDYWT's from the past few days.

TO SUM MY PAST 3 DAYS UP:
This Halloween wasn't as great as I thought it would be, but it was definitely great for other things. I had to wake up around 10/11 and took a shower to get ready for the day. Me + the other youth were volunteering for a community Harvest Festival @ church, it was cool cause there was tons of games and food[well mostly chips/donuts/kool-aid lmao] and candy and stuff for everyone to enjoy. My favorite part was picking the prizes after I won a certain amount of mini-games, which were a bunch of stuffed animals..I got a cat and a black bear, they're dope. After we cleaned up the church and took out the trash, me Mark and Gurps went with Kuya Bryan to Jack in The Box with Ate Bhessie, Carla, and Pauline to eat.

After that was all done, we picked up Stephen then went to my house to get all my stuff to go to Kuya Bryan's apartment.. Dropped off Mark, then we all arrived at the house.

Played NBA 2k10 and MGS4 on the PS3, and when we all got hungry I busted out the pan to cook..

ZOMG, NEW HAIRCUT?

Got tired of the long hair, its good to have a change..new season coming up, new month, new cut. After we ate and all that, played more PS3 then all fell asleep around 3[technically 4].
Woke up early around 7/8 to play ball..when I just worked out in the gym. I didn't know I could max out on the leg press..ahaha, did ~30 sets of 20 at 250lbs, THUNDA THIGHZZZ jk.

After that, church then home.

Felt lonely cause nobody was hitting me up, but went on facebook to talk to Jamiejamjamjamz and Angelalalalaa. AIM'd Sonyayayaya and Stephanienienienie, and that was cool.

Sonyayayaya, thank you for the lovely evening!

Just to embarass ya. LOL

Wednesday 10/28/09

WDYWT.

Today was freaking windy again, our weather is the most bipolar thing I've seen in a long time. Hopefully it passes up soon. School was kind of slow today, I just want this month to end already!
Didn't really do much today, from what I remember from my day I slept in a lot of classes.
Art started carving my design in, will take pics of that later. Math did the hw for all my other classes, LOL.

Never mind, I'm getting too lazy to get all detailed about my day.
Just know that it was long + boring!

I guess you can say today was my overall lazy day, even in my blogging, smh.
My auntie went home to the PI today, after staying with us in our house for a few months,
It'll be different without having her around, I feel bad for mom more cause she just lost
her shopping buddy when my other aunties aren't free lulz.
Have a safe trip back Ninang Solee
It's freaking cold.

I want to sleep, but I have work to do still.
Will post later on today for Thursday's highlights..

be chill...stay warm tho

Monday 10/26/09

WDWYT.

Pajama day at school, peep the spongebob pillow in the back. Very comfy, sneak into my gym bag
so I can sleep on it in class. Today started off really bad, mom getting really moody and being
late to art class, but it started getting better. Math class was alright, nothing too special, just talked to my table groups the whole time lmao, sorry Mrs.Santos! I'll work harder I promise.
Break was kinda weird, it get all hot and cold randomly, didn't really do much.
Hermatz was a little worrisome for me, I didn't do my rough drafts..which remind me after this entry I gotta hop on those.

Traded with Huy, who didn't do his essay either.. LMAO s'all good.
But I know I can't keep doing that forever. Spanish was crackin, Ms. Landeza looked so funny today, LOL I know why you're one of my favorite teachers ever Ms. Landeza! [if you ever read this, extra credit..? LOL] Lunch was a little busy for me, dropped my backpack and other books off in Coach Hubbs' class so I don't have to carry it back with me when the bell rang. Spent the whole lunch reading chapter 17 of American Pageant: 11th Edition, oh fun. APUSH = stress in classroom form, he has those randomized notecard things with our names on it..and everytime he makes a student pick it out, the whole class gets dead quiet.. nervous. He takes out the ones who went so that just narrows down the scope, making it closer to me.. yikes. Better read ch.18 tonight!

Psych was fun. Funny skits and presentations were cool. Went home after that.

Spent the whole day eating and being lazy. Pho, Cinnabon, Iced Tea, Sprite.. you name it, I ate it today lmao. Gotta stop that also, cause track conditioning is starting up really fast like. P90x, or conditioning? Hmmm..depends, which one is gonna be harder for me.. LOL, tough call. I'll think of something.

Basically, my day was pretty average minus the pajamas, tomorrow is jersey day. WDYWT fit for tomorrow also.

Around 6 or 7PM,
I logged into MSN just for the heck of it. Didn't expect anyone to talk to
since I only have like 20 contacts in there. It's only my messenger for people who don't have AIM or a facebook/myspace to talk to me on. Jessica IMs me.
We had a great talk. It was so good to catch up with her, it feels like years since I spoke with her..
When she opened up her webcam for me, she looked sounded and acted more mature! I was surprised, really did feel like I've been gone a while, the only thing I saw from her the past 192399213 months being her text messages to me.

Basically, we talked about everything. Haha, the most randomest things in the world, you could not even imagine it..that, and more...both she and I were feeling a little down today, but seeing each other was a great way to close up the night. Who knows when the next time we're gonna really talk again like this is, but whenever that comes, I'll be ready for it most definitely.

As for you, Jessica.
